When I'm Tired, I Still...
have rest and hope in His coming
Like worn-out leather tennis shoes, holes in the soles, slits on the sides, irremovable dirt and wear, and a softness that cries out for the chance to be worn one last time before being retired to the waste can, I’m that kind of tired tonight.

I’ve been trying to get a devotion out daily for several weeks now, an idea born at the Vision Christian Writers Conference in Santa Cruz, California, the last weekend of March.
I’ll understand if you quit reading after the next few paragraphs. It’s okay, it’s a sobering topic, and we are all facing it in our own way. Please leave a comment below if you are experiencing anything similar in your life.
The week before the conference, my wife’s close friend passed away. A few days later, her aunt passed away.
Going back to work, an 82-year-old client, out of thin air it seemed, spoke out. I’ve never known so many people to be dying. So many young people, especially.” She then referenced a 62-year-old friend who died suddenly a week or so ago.
A day or two later, my aunt, 96 years young, suffered a stroke. She’s in a care facility, preparing to die soon.
My wife came home from a gathering of friends, a little discouraged, hearing of a friend’s mother discovering a fatal cancer diagnosis.
An older friend from church passed this week.
We were told it would happen
The one sign of the return of Christ that is rarely discussed is death.
In reading the book of Revelation, by the time the Antichrist declares himself God in the Temple, most of Earth’s population has perished. By some estimates, 80-90% have died.
There are 8.3 billion people on Earth, so 3.5 years into the tribulation, only 830 million to 1.6 billion people will remain. It’s one more reason I trust in the Pre-Tribulation rapture of the Church.
Would God judge the righteous with the wicked? Far be it from Him.
Friends, I’m tired, but place my trust and rest in Him who is my hope, my anchor, my stay, and my rock. I have believed Him, He is able to do that which He has promised.
He Is my Savior for my past. He is my Savior today and tomorrow. He is my Savior forever.
Is he a good and godly husband who beats his bride to pieces before or after their wedding day? No, that wicked man is a deceiver, a liar, and a thief, only coming to steal, kill, and destroy.
Some in the Church would have you believe that God’s arm is either too short to save his bride or that the bride must suffer judgment with the wicked. That is an evil doctrine, no matter how you slice it.
God, please prepare my heart, strengthen me in all I do, equip me to do your will, and save me from the wrath and judgment to come.
