The True Source of All Freedom
-- I shall have something to answer him who mocks me; for I trust in Your Word -- Psalm 119:42
In the 1st Newsletter from Ministry at Zero Degrees, I mentioned
By a careful study and knowledge of the Word, you won’t be fooled any longer. You’ll be ruined though. You won’t be able to listen to a teacher without questioning if they are teaching the whole truth, or just their version of it. God will call you more noble than others, but it will be a nobility earned of having an open mind and heart to the Word of God by the power of the Spirit, and a mind closed to earthly, sensual, or demonic wisdom and doctrine.
In short, your faith in the things of God will increase, and your faith and trust, even your hope will no longer be in the things of this world as you become more like the Master, more like the teacher, more like the LORD Jesus Christ.
Lately, I’ve been waking up in the middle of the night. Last night I woke at 3 AM. The moonlight glared through the bedroom window like a spotlight from heaven, casting shadows in the room from its brightness.
Thinking I heard a large cat near the house, and the dog being anxious to go outside, I got up, checked the doors, and stared out at the moonlit yard to see if I could see any cougars padding their way through. Nothing.
Heading back to bed, I couldn’t sleep.
I began to think about the pain of knowing the truth and the freedom that comes with it.
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

A friend on Facebook named Frank wrote the following early this morning. It expresses exactly this idea that if you study and know the word, it will ruin you, and bring much gain, and some pain.
Don't believe the people who tell you it's wrong to question a teacher or pastor. You will generally hear this from church leadership or those who have been manipulated into believing that it is somehow sinful to question your leader. For example, they may say, "Touch not the Lord's anointed." This is a severe abuse of Scripture to make congregants feel as though they are opposing God if they ask questions or see inconsistencies with the pastor/teacher's doctrine. There's no Biblical precedence for forbidding rebuke and correction. In fact, we're supposed to do this as the body of Christ.
I think that many of the Freedoms our nation experienced at first, have now gone away because we have left off learning the Word of God.
Where Did Our Freedoms Go?
It used to be a part of the public school curriculum. McGuffey’s Reader used the Bible to teach grammar, spelling, and morals. Children learned to read from the Bible. It was the primer of choice. We were taught the “Golden Rule”. “Do unto others as you would have them do to you”, which came from Jesus and the Sermon on the Mount.
Matthew 7:12
(12) Therefore all things, whatever you desire that men should do to you, do even so to them; for this is the Law and the Prophets.
To control you and me, there is a need to remove the knowledge of the truth from society. A generation had to be developed that did not know the words of the Lord. People skilled in the Word of Life, who know the Truth, cannot be easily enslaved or controlled.
The Bible was a part of culture and society. If you know the Word of God, you can see lines and passages from the Bible running throughout the founding documents, letters, and quotations inscribed on the monuments dedicated to those men, the law, and official government buildings like the Halls of Congress, the Supreme Court, and the Department of Justice.
A Subtle Slavery
Consider that every religion, form of government, and hall of indoctrination that wants to control people must first remove or suppress the knowledge of the truth. The truth must be forgotten so people will believe the lie.
